Many local residents, who are largely loyal to Saddam Hussein, were not overjoyed. However, people began to venture out from the city that previously looked like a ghost town, and some expressed support for the USA. Tikrit is the last major city that had to be taken by US Coalition forces.
With the fall of Tikrit, the 26-day war is basically over. Two aircraft carriers are being pulled out of the Persian Gulf, and the planes that formerly patrolled the no-fly zone have left Turkey. US troops will also begin to rotate out of Iraq. The image of a donkey appeared over the Atlantic. The donkey was the pack animal of Israel and represented a military deployment or, in this case, a retreat, or redeployment, from the battlefield.
Tikrit is at 34 N., for the division of the land, and 43 N., for fulfillment. The division of the land refers to the Middle East peace process. President Bush, who is the 43rd President of the USA, will probably declare victory in some way after the fall of Tikrit.

A 15-year old boy was killed and 3 girls injured at John McDonogh High School about 10:30 AM CDT (1530 GMT). Search dogs were brought out and 4 suspects were apprehended.
