Links: | AP | Des Moines Register | Gazette |July 21 (Day 202, Division): One of the 14 tornadoes reported last night hit Peace Avenue and other parts of northwestern Cedar Rapids, Iowa at 42 N., for Baal, the bear, and Russia, and 91 W., for a coup de grace. Although the heaviest damage was along Peace Avenue, tornado damage was also found in Covington, Palo, and Hiawatha. Damage in northwestern Cedar Rapids was widespread with at least two dozen homes heavily damaged or destroyed. Power was knocked out to 35,000. Trees blocked many roads, and 18 were still blocked this afternoon.
Another tornado was reported in 4 miles southeast of Moville, in Woodbury County in western Iowa, at 42 N. and 96 W., for the spoils of victory. Hail as large as baseballs was reported. Crops were severely damaged.
Fourteen tornadoes were reported in the USA in Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana. Eight of the reports were in Nebraska and four were in Iowa.

The number, 2, stands for divine division, which was fulfilled later when Armstrong separated from the other racers as he moved into the lead. It was the day the Lord had made (Psalm 118:24), and the race was the Lord's (Ecclesiastes 9:11; 1 Samuel 17:47).
