The storm continued into North Carolina before it was finally downgraded to a Tropical Storm with 60 knot winds. The image of Charley on the weather map continued to be a horse, the symbol of war and a male phallic reversionist.
McClellanville was devastated by Category 4 Hurricane Hugo in 1989 on its way to Charlotte during the Jim Baker televangelist scandal. McClellanville is located at 33 N., for the purifying judgment of the Holy Spirit, and 79 W., for hardness of the heart. The city was founded in 1822 after a colony of rice planters had been destroyed by a hurricane.
