The maximum reported sustained wind was 91 mph, gusting to 117, at the mouth of the Mississippi River at Pilot's Station East at a height of 24 meters (78 feet) at 4:00 AM CDT. The storm entrained dry air and was sheared before landfall, which weakened it. In addition, the storm moved in at 16 mph, which, along with the dry air, greatly reduced the amount of rain. Consequently, New Orleans, on the east side of the storm, was spared major problems. The massive evacuation was unnecessary. In spite of all this, the storm surge did overtop some levees.
The landfall of Hurricane Gustav in Louisiana
had major political impact. The Republican Convention was scheduled
to begin today in St. Paul, almost directly north of Louisiana. However,
because of fear and near panic from Gustav, many of the big name politicians,
like President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and presidential and vice presidential
nominees, did not go to the convention. Only minimal business was
conducted at the convention today. Furthermore, NASA delayed rolling
out
STS-125, the Hubble
Repair Mission, to the Launch Pad, which was scheduled for tonight at 12:01
AM. Recall that the Mission Patch bears the insignia of hurricanes.

Gustav and Hanna
Hurricane Gustav had a twin, Tropical Storm Hannah, that stood by it since August 28. At 1:30 PM EDT today Hannah was named a hurricane after the Hurricane Hunters finally flew into it. After Gustav crossed Cuba, the infrared images of both storms appeared as horses. Today Hannah appeared more like a blob that resembled a crab. On today's pictures the jets that connected the two storms were clearly visible on the satellite maps. The jet from Gustav produced significant shear on the head of Hannah.
Gustav and Hannah symbolized Right Man and Right Woman in Marriage Culture. Gustav means staff of the Goths. It is a name for the kings of Sweden, which is in the region of Dan, or Libra. And Hannah, the woman, means grace. So, Gustav and Hannah symbolize the Lord as King at the Second Advent with His Bride, the Church. Landfall of a hurricane symbolizes the Armageddon War at the Second Advent, which is also symbolized by the conquest of the Promised Land and the destruction of Egypt for the Exodus. Since hurricanes symbolize rejection of grace, two twin hurricanes can also symbolize the Evil King and the Prostitute of Babylon, such as King Ahab and Jezebel.
The Star Chart at the time of landfall of Hurricane Gustav formed another picture of the Second Advent, which was very similar to the charts for the recent Tropical Storm Fay, Solar Eclipse, and Covenant Signs in the Sky. A symbolic Catwalk connected Heaven and Earth to symbolize the Lord's return at the Second Advent to set up His Millennial Kingdom as the King of Glory. A Plow pointed to the enemy attack upon the Lord and Israel at the Second Advent. And the nearby Almighty God Planet in Sagittarius symbolized the conquering army of the Lord, which will destroy the enemies of Israel. The Ascendant sign was Virgo, the Virgin, and symbol of the humanity of Christ. Gustav made landfall as the Red Planet was rising in Virgo. The Red Planet in Virgo was a reminder of Jesus Christ as the bloody Son, who provided atonement with His blood on the Cross. Midheaven was in the sign of Gemini, the Twins, and symbol of Marriage. There were groups of two planets around the chart, which is the sign of a witness and the Flood.
On the Heaven side of the Catwalk, the Mediator Planet in Aquarius and the Redeemer in Capricornus, formed a pair, the sign of a witness. The Moon was on the Earth side of the Catwalk as opposed to the Heaven side where it was during Tropical Storm Fay. The Moon on the Heaven side earlier symbolized the Church in Heaven, but on the Earth side in Virgo, it symbolized the glory of the woman. The woman receives glory from her Right Man on Earth. At the Second Advent, the woman as the Bride of Christ will receive glory from the Lord.
On the Earth side of the Catwalk, there were two planets in Leo and four planets in Virgo. The two planets in Leo symbolized the Second Advent of the Lord to rule in the Millennium and fulfill the unconditional covenants to Israel. The planets in Virgo were a reminder of the Virgin mother of the humanity of Christ and the Virgin Right Woman in Marriage Culture.
Now, Hurricane Gustav was meant to impact the Republican Convention after another famous couple were due to be nominated there for President and Vice President. The Presidential nominee was born on August 29, Day 242, the day he announced his Vice Presidential running mate, a woman born on February 11, Day 42. The number, 42, associated with a male symbolizes Baal, or an Evil King, and 42 associated with a woman symbolizes Jezebel, or the Prostitute of Babylon. Hurricane Gustav made landfall at 29 North Latitude, for victory over Edom (Laws of Establishment victory). Presidents and Vice Presidents are under the Laws of Establishment.
Furthermore, the Star Chart of Hurricane Gustav at landfall was full of signs of Marriage. The signs included the pairs of planets, the groups of planets in Virgo and Leo, and Midheaven in Gemini, the Twins and symbol of Marriage. The Republican Convention is in St. Paul, one of the Twin cities. It is the twin city on the right, which corresponds to the woman, or Virgin. It is in the region that corresponds to Libra, which corresponds to the Throne of Justice and Throne of David of the Lord at the Second Advent.
Louisiana is in the region of Simeon criminality and Scorpius, the deadly enemy. Landfall of Gustav, the Goth Ruler, in Louisiana symbolizes the invasion of the Armies of the Lord at the Second Advent. The Lord will bring His Bride, the Church, to rule and reign with Him after He has destroyed all His enemies, including the Evil King and Prostitute of Babylon. So, the true symbol of the Twins is the Lord and the Church, which is symbolized by Right Man and Right Woman in Marriage Culture and by Libra (Minnesota). The evil symbol is Satan's attack upon the Plan of God. Satan is symbolized by Scorpius, which corresponds to Louisiana. Satan inspires the Evil King and Prostitute of Babylon to oppose the Plan of God.
